Alina & Cedric Awarded 2017 Deutsche Schallplattenkritik Award!

Alina and Cédric first met as members of the BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artists scheme in 2005. The unique partnership which developed between the two artists was picked up by The Times who concluded its review of Cédric and Alina’s final recital as part of New Generation Artists, at the 2007 Cheltenham Festival, commenting that “both of these players have the potential to conquer the world”.

The duo is performing internationally and their recordings are of great interest, which The Times have simply described as “… a joint triumph”.

"The dramatic composition of these recordings really draws the focus. In their complete recording of Mozart’s 34 violin sonatas plus variations, single movements and fragments, Cédric Tiberghien and Alina Ibragimova integrate the shift between early and late works to such a degree that one hears the burgeoning talent in the childhood compositions (piano sonatas with convivial dabs of violin) in the same way as the florid vestiges of Rococo in the mature sonatas, in which both instruments are pretty much on an equal footing. We experience a chamber music dialogue which is alert, compact and full of life. The main pillars of the ensemble are simplicity and precision. Every now and again, “buffo” wit sparkles out of the score. Tiberghien lets the piano sing, and Ibragimova forms delicate tone colours. In this way, the outer movements shine with feather lightness, and several of the slow movements are enchanting in the very quality that can sometimes get lost in the fast track: intimacy.
